The Kryten RDA: An Origin Story
The image you see before you is the earliest known photograph of The Kryten RDA. This magnificent specimen embodies the true meaning of minimalistic design and amazing performance. In this article, we take a small peek into the history and features of this mystical, device. Brace yourselves and grab an extra pair of trousers, for we are about to embark on a fascinating journey...
The Beginning Of The End
On a distant planet in a galaxy not too far away, the Kryten rose out of the primordial soup and began it’s journey to becoming one of the most powerful forces in the universe. Alas, it would have one major obstacle standing in it’s way; the Hadaly RDA. The Hadaly being the wiser, lighter and more agile sibling set it’s sights on total domination and has so far succeeded. Many small battles were fought between the two but the true champion was still undetermined, so, a tournament was held. RDA’s from all around the galaxy showed up to show their support and to stand as witness to history in the making. As the tournament began, the Hadaly took a commanding lead delivering blow after blow to the Kryten’s tough outer shell. As the crushing blows continued the Kryten looked for any weakness he could find and just as his shell was about to be compromised he found it. The Hadaly, in its arrogance had shed its stainless steel hull and donned a full Ultem shell instead. The Kryten found the weak spot in between the airflow slots, cracked the bridge piece and began to split the ultem shell. It wasn’t long after that the Hadaly’s shell had completely split and its nichrome core was exposed. The Kryten reached back to deliver the final deathblow but, by the time it was ready to strike the Hadaly had fled. The Kryten was named champion of the galaxy, but, there was always worry of the Hadaly returning for its revenge.
The Deck, The Airflow, The Clouds
In this section we will detail some of the great features we believe contributed to the victory in the tournament of RDAs. The first, would have to be the unique clamp style velocity deck. This unique deck allows for some massive coil cores; installation is quick and simple. Because the clamps are missing a spring, the edges are beveled so the coils will slip right into their natural habitat nice and smoothly with little to no effort. With the huge inside space of this masterpiece, you can fit a great deal of cotton and fill every last inch of the massive juice well if you wish. As for the outside of this champion, you will notice its minimally designed stainless steel shell. This shell is equipped with two massive airflow slots that can be closed off should the need for stealth arise. At the top of the shell you will find the top cap system. The Kryten comes with two caps, a larger diameter for when size is not a factor and a smaller diameter for when it needs to fit in a tight space.
Accessories And Stuff
Since that fateful day of the tournament, many new aftermarket accessories have been made available to the Kryten, making it one of the most versatile atomizers in the galaxy. Sometimes, the huge dual cores can become quite hot and will need better heat dissipation. To cure that issue a black delrin, clear acrylic and an ultem material airflow cap have been created. Also, two types of ultem material drip tips have been created to give the Kryten more clothing options for special events and Comic Con appearances. Another added bonus, is that the diameter of the drip tip hole matches some of the previous champion atomizer’s, like the Goon and the Kennedy. One of the most important accessories that actually comes in the Kryten's bag of tricks, is it's squonk pin that allows liquid to flow through his chassis as if he was old faithful himself.
The funnest part of this whole thing is when you find out that I made all that origin stuff up. It might also be that you just dipped a toe into the the crazy mind pool of an absolute (insert clinical term here) and you were lucky enough to make it out alive.
